2023
SEGC (Youth) 2023 featured an innovative twist to the Junior and Senior Categories where participants are encouraged to create a three-minute Instagram video that embodies the competition’s challenge statement: “Envision a typical day in the year 2050, in a net zero world where sustainable practices are ingrained into daily routines. Showcase how individuals and communities use technology to minimise energy consumption and maximise clean energy utilisation in Singapore.”
In its second edition, the SEGC (Youth) – IHL category partnered with EDP Renewables, Tuas Power and Univers. Students were challenged to develop innovative solutions for real-life challenges faced by companies.
A total of 84 submissions were received in the Junior and Senior Categories and 24 submissions received in the IHL category.

2022
The third edition of SEGC (Youth) aims to engage youth on sustainability issues and co-create innovative energy ideas based on the theme “As Singapore transitions towards a carbon-free energy future, how can we reduce our carbon footprint by leveraging the four switches and managing energy demand to achieve a more sustainable Singapore by 2050?”. EMA partnered with Keppel Infrastructure, Schneider Electric and Sembcorp industries and presented a new category for Institute of Higher Learning (IHL). Students were challenged to come up with sustainable solutions that addressed real-world challenges faced by energy companies today.
Over 114 teams across 36 schools took part across the three categories of Junior, Senior and IHL.

2021
The second edition of SEGC (Youth) was launched in March 2021 to engage youth on sustainability issues and garner innovative ideas based on the theme “How would your carbon-free school or neighbourhood in Singapore look like in 2050?”. A total of 87 teams across 29 secondary schools and junior colleges took part in the challenge. Participants had to use Microsoft’s Minecraft: Education Edition to create their ideal carbon-free world and showcase their aspirations for Singapore.

2020
SEGC (Youth) 2020 was launched in March 2020 for all secondary school students to co-create Singapore’s Energy Story with the challenge statement “How would your energy efficient school or neighbourhood in Singapore look like in 2050?”. 92 teams across some 30 secondary schools took part in the challenge, using Microsoft’s Minecraft: Education Edition to create their ideal energy efficient world and showcase their aspirations for Singapore.
